For the over 60s

Bath City Farm runs a sociable chicken keeping/cuddling project for the over 60s called Feathered Friends.  The sessions run on Monday afternoons throughout the warmer months (May-September). We invite groups from local care homes, as well as individuals living alone or with carers, to join us to handle our chickens, meet our other friendly farm animals and enjoy a homemade afternoon tea in the fresh air.  Sessions may also include crafting or gentle gardening activities.  People living with dementia, and their carers are very welcome to attend the sessions.

To launch Feathered Friends for 2017, we are holding an afternoon tea at the farm on Monday 22nd May, 1.30-4pm (drop-in).
This will be an opportunity for guests to get to know our beautiful farm site, to meet the Feathered Friends team (and our chickens!) and find out more about how to get involved and enjoy the activities on offer.

The invitation goes to the following groups of people, so please tell any friends, family, colleagues or service users who you think may be interested:

  • The over 60s, particularly those who are looking to get out more and make friends.
  • Anyone, of any age, living with dementia in Bath and NE Somerset.
  • Anyone supporting an elderly person, or person living with dementia.
  • Activity Coordinators from Bath’s care homes and day centres
  • Local organisations supporting the over 60s and those living with dementia.
