This year we had planned to host a big 25th anniversary fundraising party, which you were invited to. However, with the farm closed, to help fight the spread of Covid-19, this event has sadly now been cancelled.
People across the UK have been taking part in something called the 2.6 Challenge to fundraise for their favourite charities. We’d love you to join in and fundraise for us to help care for the farm you love and keep us open.
What is the 2.6 Challenge?
Anyone can take part. All you need to do is dream up an activity based around the number 2.6 or 26, ask your friends and family to sponsor you and complete it. Don’t forget to share with us once done.
It could be something simple like pledging to run or ride 2.6 miles, or holding plank for 2.6 minutes. There are no rules, let your imagination get creative.
Why we need your support
In a normal year, sales from our cafe, events, bookings, school visits and corporate away days make up over a third of our total income. The rest is donated and fundraised thanks to our community, business partners and supporters.
With the loss of all our commercial income, and our fundraising events now cancelled, our charity is at risk.
Behind the scenes we’re still busy supporting our community through weekly live animal streams and managing an emergency response meals on wheels service. Your donation will help us to continue supporting our community now and in the future.
How to get involved
1. Choose your activity
The 2.6 Challenge can be any activity you like. You could go for a 2.6 mile run, walk or cycle, or you could do a 26 minute exercise class in your house. And it doesn’t have to just be exercise. You could get creative and draw 26 baby goats or write a 26 line poem about Pam our pig!
2. Sign up online
Head to 2.6 challenge website to register and read inspirational stories from other people.
You could set up your fundraising page using Virgin Money Giving and ask y our friends and family to sponsor your challenge.
You can also make a donation either through our online fundraising appeal, or on the 2.6 Challenge Website, where you can donate £26 or any amount you would like. We are grateful for anything you can give.
3. Complete and share
The only thing left to do is to complete your challenge and have fun while doing it. Don’t forget to share your achievements with your sponsors and us. We’d love to see what you’re doing so please share a photo or video of your challenge on our Facebook, Instagram or Twitter page and use #TwoPointSixChallenge or #BCF25
Whatever your challenge, every pound you raise will help the farm to stay open.
Please visit the 2.6 Challenge website to sign up and start fundraising for us.
Can I do a different fundraising challenge?
Absolutely. If you’re not jumping off your chair with excitement for the 2.6 Challenge please get in touch to find out more about how to set up your own fundraising event. There are dozens of different ways you can get involved. Perhaps you would like to host an online quiz night, or run a garden marathon?
A local football team, Heritage United, successfully fundraised over £1,000 hosting a ‘dogs racing night’ on Zoom. Watch the video below for more details.
