A chicken-keeping and chicken-cuddling project for the over 60s and for people living with dementia.
Led by our chicken fanatic, who also keeps chickens at home, you can join us to help care for our friendly chickens, learn how to handle them, or just have a cuddle of one! Each of our feathered friends has a name (currently Hetty, Dot, Dash, Josie, Freckles, Sylvia, Boogie and, everyone’s favourite, Wingco, the one-winged cockerel!) Get to know their unique personalities and learn more about how to care for chickens. Afternoon tea is served alfresco, but sheltered under a wooden gazebo, allowing you to enjoy the fresh air and spectacular views of Bath.
Transport can be organised to bring groups from local care homes in Bath, or for individuals living close to the farm – in Twerton, Whiteway and Southdown.
If you would like to get involved yourself, have a friend or family member who you think might benefit, or are an Activity Coordinator in a Bath care home, please get in touch with Sarah on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01225 481 269.
When: Monday, 1pm – 3.30pm, May-mid September
For: People aged 60+, or of any age living with dementia, living at home, in local care homes, or attending day centres
Price: Free. Carers are very welcome to attend.
